This website ("Pokédex", "we", "us", or "our") is an unofficial, non-commercial fan project. It is operated by an individual developer and is not affiliated with Nintendo Co., Ltd., Game Freak Inc., Creatures Inc., or The Pokémon Company.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

We do not operate user accounts, registration forms, contact forms, comment systems, or payment processing. We do not collect, store, or process any personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, location, or IP address on our servers.

3. Local Storage (Theme Preference)

When you toggle between dark and light mode, your preference is saved to your browser's localStorage. This data:

• Resides exclusively on your device.
• Is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.
• Contains no personally identifiable information.
• Can be cleared at any time via your browser settings.

This theme preference does not require consent because it is strictly necessary to remember a setting you chose.

4. Cookies & Consent

When you first visit, we show a consent banner. Until you choose, and if you decline, we instruct Google's services to run in a restricted mode that does not store analytics or advertising cookies (a technique known as Google Consent Mode v2). If you accept, the following cookies may be set:

• Analytics cookies (e.g. _ga, _ga_*) — set by Google Analytics to distinguish visitors and measure usage. Typically expire within 2 years.

5. Third-Party Services

We use a small number of third-party services to deliver this website. Each has its own privacy practices, which we describe below.

Google Analytics

Subject to your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type). We enable IP anonymization. This data is processed by Google in accordance with their Privacy Policy. You can also opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Google AdSense

Subject to your consent, we display advertising through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. If you decline consent, ads (where shown) are non-personalized. Google Fonts

We load typography from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). When your browser fetches these files, Google's servers receive a standard HTTP request that may include your IP address and browser information. Google may use this data in accordance with their own Privacy Policy. As of 2022, Google has updated their Fonts API to not log IP addresses for font requests beyond what is necessary for standard network operations.

If you prefer not to send requests to Google's servers, you may use a browser extension that intercepts or proxies these requests.

PokéAPI

Pokémon data displayed on this site is retrieved from PokéAPI, a free and open RESTful API. Data is fetched server-side, meaning requests to PokéAPI originate from our server — not from your browser. Your IP address and browser information are never sent to PokéAPI.

6. Server Logs

Like most web servers, our hosting provider may maintain standard access logs that record IP addresses, request timestamps, and the pages requested. These logs are used solely for operational purposes (diagnosing errors, preventing abuse) and are not used for tracking, profiling, or marketing. Logs are typically retained for a short period as determined by the hosting provider.

7. Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

8. Your Rights (GDPR / EU Residents)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have certain rights regarding your personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Because we do not collect personal data, there is typically no data to access, correct, or delete. Since we do not collect or store personal data, the risk of a data breach affecting you through this site is minimal. We take reasonable technical measures to secure our server infrastructure against unauthorized access.
